Welcome everyone to the MONTE VISTA NEWS
Wow- what a year! 2012 was beyond anything we expected. We have made so many new friends and hosted a wide variety of events of all kinds. It is so satisfying for us to see folks enjoying the results of our work and renovations. However the things that touch us most are that we have been witness to some of the most important moments of our guests lives- weddings, landmark birthdays, family reunions- and that The Monte Vista continues its 75 year tradition of being a part of these memories.
I think Barney and I did not truly understand this until we started making memories of our own.
So, here is where we start 2013-
30 completed guest rooms in the main hotel, newly stone covered front porch and steps, new exterior lighting, new front awning and a new sign on the State Street frontage. The Red House has been renovated and opened as the home of The Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League, a long established and accomplished group of local artists who have served the art community and The town of Black Mountain in immeasurable ways.
Work is progressing and should be completed this spring on our next 12 rooms. This area will be called “The Lodge” and is located to the rear of the main hotel. It will consist of 12 queen guestrooms each with bath and a central ‘Family Room’ for meetings and gathering. There will be TV’s! A first for our Monte Vista!
Cappi MacSherry of AnTHM Gallery continues to bring the amazing work of local and regional artists to the hotel. First Friday Art Gatherings are resuming starting February 1st. These evenings have grown to be very popular and lots of fun. Meeting the artists, enjoying the work and just plain having a wonderful evening of art, food and music.
Returning this year- and we are so happy!
May 16- Black Mountain Beautification Committee Annual Plant Sale- This is a big and wonderful day long event with lots of vendors, plants, food and silent auctions all over the grounds of The Monte Vista. Both Visitors and locals love it and it is the major fund raiser for The Committee which is responsible for planting the beautiful flowers that bloom all summer long all over town. This is a big event, attended by hundreds of folks anxious to welcome spring and get back into the garden.
Last year we initiated our first email blasts as a way of keeping everyone up to date on what’s happening here- if you want to join up just email through this website and say’ put me on the list.’ We do not share your address with anyone and you can easily unsubscribe if we get too annoying.
Looking forward to a great 2013 and looking forward to seeing you here.
