The Music Scene

Black Mountain enjoys a growing reputation as a music destination for a good reason -- dozens of good reasons, in fact -- indoors and out.

Just two of the many music venues are the White Horse Black Mountain, an old Chevrolet dealership recycled into a 225-seat cabaret-style music hall and Black Mountain Center for the Arts, which offers classes and concerts including Suzuki violin lessons, the Junior Appalachian Music JAM and the Black Mountain Youth Chorale Winter Concert.

Outdoors, The Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) celebrates music from many corners of the globe in a family setting at Camp Rockmont twice in 2011 (May and October, book your Monte Vista rooms early). Park Rhythms at Lake Tomahawk is a summer series of free music in the park, Black Mountain’s Sourwood Festival is always a hit with locals and visitors alike.

There are also concerts at Warren Wilson College and Montreat College, and dozens of other music venues. Check out http://www.blackmountainmusicscene.com. For a good introduction to the area’s music and nightlife come for Monte Vista’s Getaway Special A Night on Black Mountain.
