Barney and Sue had a goal of finding an historic hotel and restoring it...and running it in a manner that would offer a service to the community...a central meeting place where friends, family, clubs, churches and companies can gather to greet, meet and share. In the Monte Vista Hotel they found the ideal situation. “In restoring the hotel, we not trying to change its spirit. We’re keeping the important architectural features from the earlier day while bringing the hotel up to the standards of the 21st Century traveler.” “One of the great things about the original dining room was the red oak floors. We’ve refinished them and they really turned out well...they give a warmth and richness to the dining room that adds to the atmosphere.” “We added a stage in the dining room. Since music is such an important part of the Black Mountain experience we want to offer regular live music.” “Our goal is to maintain the flavor of the past, when the hotel was at the heart of what was happening in Black Mountain. It was where people met, and our goal is to continue that role in the community." “The true legacy of the Monte Vista is the way it has touched so many lives in the community. That will never change...we want to expand the family of the Monte Vista.” |
