Barney Fitzpatrick and Sue Conlon searched for an inn or hotel with an interesting history to restore. They looked in
such diverse places as Oregon, New England, Florida and the Carolinas before hearing about the Monte Vista Hotel
-- a proud Black Mountain tradition with a reputation for providing a comfortable homelike atmosphere. The Monte Vista
presented the perfect opportunity to restore a historically significant Colonial Revival-style brick building (it was
added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008) and to offer comfortable lodgings, fine dining and a cozy lounge.
Executive Chef Matthew Krabitz, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, focuses on the bounty of local and seasonal ingredients of the area to create his menus. Blending regional flavors and southern classics with European techniques, Matt and his staff create menus to satisfy every palate.
Together, Barney and Sue are committed to providing the highest standard of comfort and satisfaction
for their guests.
